UAE Overtime Calculator

Estimate overtime remuneration under the federal private-sector labour regime: normal (125%), night 10pm-4am (150%), rest-day (150%), and official-holiday work (250%).

Normal overtime hours (+25%)
Night hours 10pm–4am (+50%)
Rest-day hours (+50%)
Official-holiday hours (250% total)
Assumptions & how this is calculated
  • Basic hourly wage = basic monthly salary ÷ 30 ÷ 8, following the MOHRE worker-guide presentation.
  • Normal overtime = hourly × 1.25. Night overtime (10pm-4am) = hourly × 1.50. Rest-day hours = hourly × 1.50. Official-holiday hours = hourly × 2.50.
  • Rest-day and official-holiday rules can include substitute time off. The amounts shown are remuneration estimates for entered hours; confirm how substitute days affect your case.
  • Ramadan reduces standard hours by 2/day. The reminder does not mutate your entries or change the hourly-wage divisor.
  • Law generally limits overtime to 2 hours/day unless an exception applies.

Overtime FAQs

How is overtime calculated in the UAE?+

Overtime is paid on the basic hourly wage plus a premium: 25% extra for normal overtime, and 50% extra for overtime worked between 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM. Work on a weekly rest day is paid at the basic wage plus 50% (or compensated with another day off).

What are the standard working hours?+

The standard is 8 hours per day or 48 hours per week. Working hours are reduced by two hours per day during Ramadan. Overtime should generally not exceed two hours per day unless an exception applies.

How is the hourly wage worked out?+

This calculator follows the MOHRE worker-guide presentation: basic hourly wage = monthly basic salary ÷ 30 ÷ 8.

Does overtime apply to everyone?+

No. This estimate is for workers covered by the federal private-sector labour regime. DIFC, ADGM, domestic-worker, government, shift-worker and exempt-role rules can differ. Always check the rule that applies to you.

Is overtime based on basic or total salary?+

On the basic wage, not the total package. Allowances are excluded.
