35% discount on traffic fines in Sharjah

Motorists in Sharjah can now benefit from a 35% discount on traffic fines, provided payment is made within 60 days of the violation date. This initiative, approved by the Sharjah Executive Council, is intended to encourage timely payments and ease financial burdens on residents.

The decision was made during the council’s weekly meeting chaired by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Council.

Discount also covers impoundment and penalties

The 35% discount is not limited to just traffic fines—it also applies to:

  • Vehicle impoundment fees
  • Late payment penalties

Motorists who pay their fines within one year (but after 60 days) will still receive a 25% discount.

Conditions and exclusions

  • The discount applies to most traffic violations.
  • Serious offences are excluded from this scheme.
  • Payment must be completed within 60 days to receive the full 35% discount.

Additional decision: Fee exemption for 88 projects

In a related move to support young entrepreneurs, the Sharjah Executive Council also approved a 50% exemption on government fees for 88 entrepreneurial projects supported by the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Foundation (Ruwad). This exemption will last for two years and covers various economic and priority sectors.

Council discusses future plans

The council further reviewed progress on government initiatives and public policies, highlighting efforts to align with Sharjah’s broader vision and development strategies.
