UAE Visa for GCC Residents: Eligibility, Requirements, Fees and How to Apply

Foreign nationals who legally reside in a GCC country can apply for a UAE eVisa before travelling to the Emirates.

The visa is available to eligible residents of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar. It is designed for tourism, family visits, business meetings and other short-term visits.

Who Can Apply?

The UAE eVisa is available to foreign nationals who hold a valid residence permit in any of the following GCC countries:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • Bahrain
  • Kuwait
  • Oman
  • Qatar

Important: GCC citizens themselves do not need a visa to enter the UAE. They can travel using their passport or national ID card. This guide is for expatriate residents living in GCC countries. 

Basic Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must generally meet the following conditions:

  • Hold a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival.
  • Hold a GCC residence permit valid for at least one year from the planned arrival date.
  • Work in an eligible profession approved by the UAE immigration authorities (subject to evaluation).
  • Have no travel restrictions preventing entry into the UAE. 

Visa Validity

Once approved:

  • The entry permit is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
  • After entering the UAE, visitors may stay for up to 30 days.
  • The visa can be extended once for another 30 days, subject to approval.  

Documents Required

Applicants typically need:

  • Passport (minimum six months validity)
  • GCC residence permit or electronic copy showing profession and validity
  • Recent passport-size photograph with white background

Depending on the application, additional documents may be requested.  

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online before travelling to the UAE.

Applicants can apply through:

  • UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP)
  • Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) for Dubai-issued permits

Applicants create a user account, complete the online form, upload the required documents, pay the applicable fees, and receive the approved visa electronically by email.  

Visa Fee

For applications processed through GDRFA Dubai:

  • AED 250
  • 5% VAT applies in addition to the visa fee.  

Fees may vary depending on the issuing authority or additional service charges.

Can Family Members Apply?

Yes.

Eligible GCC residents can apply for accompanying family members, provided they meet the applicable immigration requirements and submit supporting documents such as proof of relationship when requested.
