Dubai’s Metro network is set for another major expansion with the upcoming Blue Line, scheduled to open on September 9, 2029. The new line will add 14 stations across a 30-kilometre route.
The Blue Line will connect several growing residential and business communities across Dubai. It is designed to improve connectivity and reduce travel times. The project is being developed by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The route will include stations at Dubai Creek Harbour, Dubai Festival City, Ras Al Khor, and International City. International City will have multiple stations serving different phases of the community. These areas are expected to benefit from improved public transport access.
Other planned stations include Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Mirdif, and Al Warqa. The line will also serve major education and technology hubs. Academic City will act as one of the terminal stations.
The Blue Line will feature interchanges with the existing Metro network. Passengers will be able to transfer to the Red Line at Centrepoint and the Green Line at Creek. These connections will make travel across Dubai more convenient.
Once completed, the Blue Line will become one of Dubai’s biggest public transport expansions in recent years. It is expected to support the city’s growing population and future urban development. The project also complements Dubai’s long-term mobility plans.
Construction is currently underway, with services expected to begin in September 2029. After the Blue Line, Dubai plans to develop the Gold Line, targeted for completion in 2032.
